A Study on Married Women¢¥s Knowledge and Attitude toward Antenatal Care


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess the knowledge and attitude in antenatal care.
Data, collection were well trained nursing students interviewed 265 married women who were living in Daegu City, from May 1. 1989 to August 31, 1989.
The data were analyzed by the use of percentage, X2-test.
The results were summerized as follows:
1. The age group of 20-40 years old was 80.4 % and 77.0 % of respondents attained their education above the level of high school.
2. In Obstetrics and Gynecology, average pregnancy number was 2.8 and average delivery number was 1.9. 40.4 % of respondents experienced artificial abortion and 14.7 % of respondents experienced spontaneous abortion.
3. In frequency of antenatal care, 52.9 % had had periodical antenatal care in their first delivery; only 32.5 % had in second delivery.
4. 91.3 % of respondents visited hospital for antenatal care, the rest of respondents visited health center and midwifery center.
5. In feeling about becoming conscious of the pregnancy, 54.3 % of respondents was satisfied in the their first delivery and only 18.5 % of respondents was satisfied in second delivery. (P < 0.01).
6. The score of the test about the activity during pregnancy period was 91.7 %.
7. The score of the test about the meals during pregnancy period was 55.8 %.
8. The score of the test about constipation control during pregnancy period was 62.3%.
9. The score of the test about sexual life during pregnancy period was 69.8 %.
10. The score of the test about smoking during pregnancy period was 36.2 %. 11. The score of the test about drug usage during pregnancy period was 93.2 %.
12. The score of the test about travelling and exercise during pregnancy period was 75.8%.
13. The score of the test about dangerous symptoms; vaginal bleeding 82.6 %, hypertention 70.2 %, edema 67.9 %, abdominal pain 51.7 %, severe headache 33.2 %.
14. The score of the test about dangerous .diseases; toxemia 88.3 %, ectopic pregnancy 85.3 %, syphilis 81.1 %, gonorrhea 63.4 %, D.M. 54.3 %.
15. In treatment of disease during pregnancy period, 93.9 % of respondents had treated by taking counsel with doctor.
